Who is qualified to provide music therapy services?
Individuals who have completed an approved college curriculum in music therapy and are credentialed professionals through a board-certification provided by the Certification Board of Music Therapists.
Do I need to know how to sing or play an instrument in order receive music therapy?
Not at all! There is no requirement to have prior music experience in order to be eligible to receive music therapy services. Music therapy is focused on the how aspects of music can foster the therapeutic process, not on developing musical skill.
Is there research that supports the practice of music therapy?
Yes! Music therapy has received increasingly more recognition as additional research provides evidence of efficacy in a variety of areas of practice.
Do you accept insurance?
Therapy by the C does not accept private insurance at this time, but an invoice can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company.
How long are music therapy sessions?
Sessions range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on the individual needs of the client.
